This is such a simple prompt, yet, as adults, we are so caught up in the whirlwind of responsibilities that I had to really think about my response. When I asked my lads, they had no problems telling me what they’d last done that was fun!
For me though, the last thing I did for fun was to head outside, 2 weekends back, with the family. Bags filled with snacks, coats zipped up and walking boots on, ready for another muddy adventure through the woods. Of course, that last walk was Bishops Wood so it was less muddy and more brambly! But that’s not the point… these days, anything involving the family, nature and being away from any electrical device is really how I define ‘having fun’! And playing? Well, I can’t resist climbing a tree or trying a pull up on anything relatively horizontal!

The best part? It cost us nothing. And I am a BIG believer in finding us things to do that are fun AND free (and outdoors wherever possible)! Over Christmas both my husband and I will be off work, and (storms permitting!) we plan to get outside as much as possible (fun fact, jumping in muddy puddles is just as therapeutic and fun for grownups as it is the children!). So, if you are off too, why not go for a walk, or a bike ride? I’ve got lots of fun and free ideas here that you can do outside with your children this holiday, so why not try one and see how much fun you all have?
