About Us | Treks, Trails & Travel

Family of four stand by a trig point on top of a hill, with more hills and far reaching views behind them.

We’re a Shropshire family exploring the UK on a budget – sharing free walks, cheap bike rides, campervan life, and family-friendly adventures.

Two kids (ages 11 & 9), one van (Vangelina), and a love for making the outdoors fun and affordable.

Welcome to Treks, Trails & Travel – our family blog all about making outdoor adventures fun, affordable, and achievable for everyone.

We’re a Shropshire-based family of four (plus our trusty campervan, Vangelina!) who believe the best memories don’t have to cost the earth. Whether it’s a woodland walk, a mountain bike trail, or a day out with a picnic, we’re proof that you can explore the UK on a budget and still have the time of your life.

Get to know us!

Mum and Dad…

Mum (the blogger & storyteller)
I’m the one writing up our journeys – sharing the highs, the hiccups, and the hacks that make family days out more fun (and cheaper too).

Mum and Dad together on a forest trail rest spot, wearing cycling gear and helmets, smiling and giving peace signs.

Dad (the decision maker)
The practical one. Always scouting the map, checking the bikes, and helping us choose where to go next when we can’t decide.

The Boys…

Big Brother – Age 11
Our self-appointed map reader and budding adventurer. He’s happiest plotting routes, climbing hills (on his bike!), and proving that kids can go the distance.

Little Brother – Age 9
The fearless biker and all-round bundle of energy. If there’s a jump, puddle, or stepping stone to be conquered – he’s already halfway across it.

And Vangelina!

An orange van sits in a desolate car park in the Peak District

Vangelina (our Ford Transit Custom campervan)
More than just wheels – she’s our budget-friendly base for adventures big and small. Still a work-in-progress, a project we took on as a family, but already packed with memories.

What Treks, Trails & Travel Is All About

  • Family walks & hikes that are free or low-cost.
  • Mountain biking for children and parents alike, without breaking the bank.
  • Cheap outdoor days out – from picnics by the water to pump tracks and hidden play spots.
  • Campervan life on a budget – how we’re converting and travelling in Vangelina without spending a fortune.

We’re passionate about showing that exploring the great outdoors doesn’t have to be expensive. Most of our favourite memories come from free activities and affordable adventures – things any family can do with a little planning and a lot of curiosity.

Work With Us

We’re always open to testing outdoor gear, family-friendly activities, or travel experiences – especially those that help families make the most of the outdoors without overspending.

With two growing children (ages 11 and 9), we’re especially keen to try products and activities designed for children, walkers, mountain bikers, and budget-conscious families.

If you’d like us to review something, collaborate, or feature your destination, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
